{"id":256,"date":"2007-06-11T20:37:33","date_gmt":"2007-06-11T20:37:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/navertise.net\/inkandblood\/?p=256"},"modified":"2016-10-17T21:57:32","modified_gmt":"2016-10-17T21:57:32","slug":"ink-blood-re-opens-tomorrow-museum-of-idaho-exhibit-runs-from-june-1-through-september-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inkandblood.com\/index.php\/2007\/06\/11\/ink-blood-re-opens-tomorrow-museum-of-idaho-exhibit-runs-from-june-1-through-september-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Ink &#038; Blood Re-Opens Tomorrow, Museum of Idaho Exhibit Runs From June 1 through September 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO \u2013&nbsp;May 31, 2007 \u2013&nbsp;The Museum of Idaho re-opens tomorrowwith Ink &amp; Blood: Dead Sea Scrolls to the King&nbsp;James Bible.&nbsp; The exhibit was<br \/>\n<br \/>closed from May 29 through today&nbsp;so that new&nbsp;cave artifacts&nbsp;could be added<br \/>\n<br \/>from 1st century Qumran caves.&nbsp;<br \/>\n<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<br \/>Ink &amp; Blood has been the second most popular exhibition (next to T.rex Sue)<br \/>\n<br \/>to date for the Museum of Idaho, with almost 3,000 visitors per week since<br \/>\n<br \/>it opened in February.&nbsp; The exhibition contains over 100 actual artifacts<br \/>\n<br \/>and some of the most exciting archaeological discoveries ever made,<br \/>\n<br \/>chronicling the preservation and subsequent translations of the most read<br \/>\n<br \/>book of all time \u2013 The Bible.<br \/>\n<br \/>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br \/>\n<br \/>The exhibition reopens on Friday, June 1st at 9am.&nbsp; Tickets to the<br \/>\n<br \/>exhibition&nbsp;are $6 for Adults, $4 for kids 4-17 years old, or $19 for the<br \/>\n<br \/>whole family.&nbsp;&nbsp; Regular museum hours will be Monday &amp; Tuesday from 9am to<br \/>\n<br \/>8pm, and Wednesday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm, closed on Sunday.&nbsp; For<br \/>\n<br \/>further information about the exhibit or the Museum of Idaho, please call<br \/>\n<br \/>(208) 522-1400, x3003.<br \/>\n<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<br \/>About New Items:<br \/>\n<br \/>1st century cave artifacts from Qumran, Israel<br \/>\n<br \/>The Qumran caves preserved artifacts from many periods, and especially from<br \/>\n<br \/>c.200 B.C. to 68 A.D.&nbsp; The Dead Sea Scrolls date from about 250 B.C. to 68<br \/>\n<br \/>A.D.<br \/>\n<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<br \/>The artifacts that will be on exhibit have never been on display before and<br \/>\n<br \/>come from the same period and general location as the Dead Sea Scrolls; that<br \/>\n<br \/>is, the objects (with the exception of the 3 Ceramic Containers, Iron Age<br \/>\n<br \/>II) date from the late Hellenistic (= Hasmonean) to the Early Roman period,<br \/>\n<br \/>or from c. 150 B.C. to about 70 A.D. All are typical of Jerusalem and its<br \/>\n<br \/>environs. The light green hue of most of the glass is due to the metal<br \/>\n<br \/>oxides in the material from this area. This cave or tomb dates from about<br \/>\n<br \/>100 B.C. (the date of the major manuscript of The Rule of the Community) to<br \/>\n<br \/>70 A.D. Avigad opined that this vessel was<br \/>\n<br \/>\u201capparently kept in the house as a precious \u2018antique.\u2019\u201d (p. 182).
