\nIDAHO FALLS<\/span><\/st1:city>,
\nIDAHO<\/st1:state><\/span><\/st1:place> \u2013 February 15, 2007 \u2013 On February 16 the museum opens
\nits major 2007 exhibit, \u201cInk & Blood: Dead Sea Scrolls to the King James
\nBible,\u201d presented by the Post Register. <\/span>The opening of Ink & Blood marks the first time ever for actual Dead
\nSea Scrolls fragments to be put on display in the Intermountain West.  <\/span>The exhibit contains over 100 actual
\nartifacts and some of the most exciting archaeological discoveries ever made,
\nchronicling the preservation and subsequent translations of the most read book
\nof all time \u2013 The Bible.
\n<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Ink & Blood contains at
\nleast one artifact that is 5,000 years old; and ancient Babylonian clay tablet,
\nand Dead Sea Scroll fragments that are at least 2,000 years old.  <\/span>The exhibit also contains a replica of the
\nGutenberg Printing Press, the invention that is credited with launching several
\nsocial changes, including the Renaissance of arts and culture, the Reformation,
\nand the birth of modern science.  <\/span>And it
\ncontains many original Bibles centuries old. <\/span>\u201cIt\u2019s a once in a lifetime experience to come see the untold history of
\nthe Hebrew Bible, the Greek Bible, the Latin Bible, the translations into many
\nother languages including English, the history of writing, the birth of modern
\nprinting, and the roles that these events played in the history of the world\u201d
\nsaid Dr. David Pennock, museum executive director.
\n<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt truly is an amazing
\nstory, and it\u2019s one that really hasn\u2019t ever been told\u201d said Dr. William Noah,
\nfounder and curator of Ink & Blood. <\/span>This exhibit brings together ancient historical writings, scrolls and
\nmanuscripts, the invention of the printing press, the impact that inexpensive
\nmass produced books and manuscripts have had on world culture, and the birth of
\nthe modern English Bible.  <\/span>These things
\nled to an explosion of interest in the arts, science and religion.  <\/span>The common person could now read and
\nparticipate in the great debates and discussions of their times.  <\/span>
\n<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNow is our chance, probably
\nthe only chance most of us will ever have, to see actual Dead Sea Scroll
\nfragments, Babylonian tablets, and 100\u2019s of ancient Bibles and artifacts in a
\ncomprehensive and truly historic exhibit,\u201d said Nick Gailey, museum programs
\ndirector.  <\/span>Mr. Gailey has been working on
\nbringing this exhibit to
\n
\nIdaho Falls<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>
\nfor over a year now, and he is clearly very excited to see the exhibit finally
\nopen to the public tomorrow.  <\/span>He is not
\nthe only one.  <\/span>Over 175 members of the
\nclergy from
\nIdaho<\/st1:state>,
\nWyoming<\/st1:state>
\nand
\n
\nUtah<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> are
\ncoming today for a preview of the exhibit. The buzz is palpable.  <\/span>No matter what your faith, there is something
\ncompelling about this exhibit.  <\/span>And for
\nthose that are only interested in history, what can be more fascinating than
\nthe history of writing and the invention of the printing press?  <\/span>The impact it has had on society, and the
\nresulting speed of technological and social advancement, has been truly
\nastounding.
\n<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

And here it is in
\nIdaho Falls<\/st1:city>, one of only four venues it has ever been
\nexhibited in, and the only venue west of the
\n
\nMississippi<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>. <\/span>We are very fortunate to have it. <\/span>The exhibit runs from February 16 through May 28th.  <\/span>Museum hours are Monday \u2013 Tuesday from 9am to
\n8pm, Wednesday \u2013 Saturday from 9am to 5pm, and Sunday from noon to 5pm.
